On the longest day of the year, Saturday, June 24th, 2023, the people living around Ehrwald, Lermoos, and Biberwier celebrate the annual Bergfeuer, a traditional fire festival held in the Alps. 

During this event, the mountain slopes are illuminated by as many as 8,000 fires, which are arranged to form a variety of symbols and figures drawn from mythology and faith, such as animals, plants, and crosses. 

The Bergfeuer is created by fire artists who work in the Zugspitz Arena and are frequently invited to perform in Germany and Switzerland. 

If you plan to attend this event on June 24, 2023, be sure to arrive before 10 pm so you do not miss the beautiful light show. 

If you are driving to the festival, you can park at the church square or at the Sonnenhanglift in Ehrwald. For the best views, go to the 'Familienbad' indoor Swimingpool or the Golfino restaurant.
